There are many reasons that provoke the development of an inflammatory process in the prostate (prostatitis). These are various sexually transmitted diseases (gonorrhea, trichomoniasis), hormonal disorders, obesity, smoking and alcohol abuse.
Prostatitis is inflammation of the prostate that causes discomfort, affects sexual function, and can cause inflammation of the testicles and epididymis that ultimately leads to infertility. Pathology is observed in men of different ages, but most often after 35-40 years. There are a number of reasons that prostatitis develops.
Acute and chronic infection processes as a factor in the development of prostatitis
Often the cause of the development of the inflammatory process of the prostate is the activity of infectious agents. The disease develops due to the penetration of an infection into the prostate, the appearance of which was provoked by other diseases. Due to their development, the immune system is weakened, the reproductive process of pathogenic microflora begins.
Inflammation of the prostate is caused by:
- Gonococci (causative agent of gonorrhea);
- Chlamydia (causing chlamydia);
- Trichomonas (causative agent of trichomoniasis);
- Cochus bacillus (the causative agent of tuberculosis);
- Candida fungi (cause of candidiasis).
Prostatitis also develops under the influence of Escherichia coli, enterococci, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, staphylococci.
Circulatory disorder in the pelvic area
The stagnation of blood and fluid in the pelvic area is the result of impaired blood flow to the vessels in this area. This phenomenon is associated with factors such as a sedentary lifestyle, sedentary work, wearing too tight, squeezing underwear or tight jeans and pants, and being overweight. Slow blood flow can be associated with disorders in the work of the heart muscle, diseases of the nervous system.
In the presence of such factors, blood does not flow to the prostate in sufficient quantities. This leads to a lack of oxygen and increases the risk of developing an inflammatory process.
Longer abstinence from sexual intercourse, frequent interruption of sexual intercourse
If a man has not had sexual intercourse for a long time and if he also practices intermittent sexual intercourse as a method of contraception, then this provokes an inflammation of the prostate.
In the presence of these factors, a special fluid accumulates in the prostate - a secret that ensures the viability and mobility of sperm and, under normal conditions, is removed from it. In the event of abstinence and interruption of sexual intercourse, it remains in the prostate or is only partially excreted due to lack of ejaculation.
Congestion causes the organ to enlarge and become inflamed.
Hormonal disorders
A hormonal imbalance, in which testosterone production is disrupted, leads to the development of an inflammatory process in the prostate.
As a result of such phenomena, hormonal disorders appear:
- Abnormalities of the glands and organs of the endocrine system (thyroid, adrenal, pituitary);
- Testicular injury that produces testosterone;
- Lack of physical activity;
- acute and chronic intoxication;
- wrong diet;
- frequent stress;
- Living in an unfavorable ecological environment;
- Tumor neoplasms.
Prostatitis can result from both a decrease and a sharp increase in the male sex hormone.
Injury and hypothermia
Mechanical damage to the pelvic organs and the perineum leads to congestion of the prostate, which leads to inflammation. If the injuries are severe, they can cause chronic prostatitis.
Hypothermia in the pelvic region, which occurs when staying in drafts for a long time or by choosing the wrong clothing (not for the weather), also causes an acute inflammatory process of the prostate. It is important that hypothermia reduces the body's defenses, which in such conditions cannot fight the developing disease.
Constant nervous tension
Prostatitis can be psychological in nature. The risk group includes men who regularly suffer from stress, who suffer from constant lack of sleep and chronic fatigue and who also suffer from constantly increased psychological stress.
The trigger in this case is the production of certain "stressful" substances - the nervous system reacts to the situation. Under such conditions, the risk of developing inflammation increases.
Bad habits and unhealthy diet
Alcohol and smoking have a negative effect on blood vessels, making them inelastic and fragile. As a result, the blood supply to the prostate decreases, the gland receives less nutrients and oxygen. Inflammation develops under such conditions.
Harmful foods: fatty and fried foods, semi-finished products, canned foods, pickles, as well as beverages such as strong tea and coffee, sweet lemonade reduce immunity. Because of this, the body is unable to fight the pathogens that cause inflammation of the prostate.
Digestive problems that cause frequent constipation
When a person has irregular bowel movements or frequent constipation, dysbiosis develops: in this case, the ratio of beneficial and harmful microflora in the gastrointestinal tract to the latter changes. This lowers immunity and makes the body more susceptible to pathogens. In addition, the retention of feces promotes the absorption of toxins into the large intestine, which also has a negative effect on the protective function of the body.
Prostatitis is a disease that can cause infertility. This deviation occurs under the influence of a variety of reasons: from injuries to the pelvic organs to psychological factors. Finding out the cause of the inflammation of the prostate and eliminating it will allow you to make progress in the treatment of the pathology.
